'I'll find you' by Liz Lawler

Rating: 3 stars Spoilers ahead! Emily Jacobs is a nurse who recently started working at a private hospital. On the anniversary of her sister being missing, Emily has a surgery at this hospital. All goes well... except she woke to the doctors trying to resuscitate the women next to her. Though in the morning the bed next to her lay empty, and apparently it had been empty all along. Did her sister's disappearance leave her mind disconnected from reality? Or was there something more to uncover? I don't know where to start with this book. At times I couldn't put it down, and at others I was so frustrated that I wanted to throw it across the room. I think the plot was actually quite good, and well thought out, but at times I do think the writing let it down a little. Emily was a difficult character for me to relate to. There were times throughout where I did feel sorry for her, but her reasoning was sometimes hard to understand. Like when the Dalloway's had basically...

'The nowhere child' by Christian White

4 Stars What would you do if you discovered that you were a missing child? The nowhere child? I had managed to finish this book in one setting; it was an absolute page turner. There were 2 alternate tenses: past and present, or 'now' and 'then' if you will. I think the story did flow quite nicely, and I couldn't predict what was going to happen. I did like most of the characters though I have to say Kim/Sammy was not one of my favourites by a long shot. Her character was quite dull, despite what was happening in her life, and her attitude to a lot of things seemed very neutral. I did like the difference in first and third person between the 'now' and 'then' sections, it showed a good contrast, and it was nice to see the POV of many characters. Around 80% of the way through I wasn't that happy with what was happening, but the book definitely redeemed itself in the last remaining chapters. White's style was writing was clear, and enjoya...

'Pretty in Punxsutawney' by Laurie Boyle Crompton

Andie is a teenage, romance-movie aficionado. After a move to a new town in PA, Andie gets caught in a time-loop. What does she have to learn before the curse is finally broken? I was very excited upon reading the description of this book, I absolutely love the idea of the time-loop. Of course this is a theme that has been done many times before, so I was looking for something new and exciting from this book. Needless to say, I don't think  I necessarily found it. Although this was a cute read, it was a little anti-climatic. I did enjoy the message behind the story, of looking past stereotypes and labels, something that is relevant in this day and age but this book just didn't have the spark I was looking for. I do still think it is a good read, lots of nice 1980s throwbacks!

'Gone by midnight' by Candice Fox

Rating: 4.5 stars I absolutely loved this book! It took a while to get through because I was so busy, and normally I would have lost interest in a book after taking so long to read it, but I kept coming back. I didn't realise that this was the third book in a series until about half way through, but it didn't affect my understanding of what was happening at all, though I probably won't go back and read the other 2 books, just because the author explained the situations in this book. I was very intrigued by Ted's character, and Fox did an excellent job of expressing his feelings and thought-processes. Amanda took a little getting used to for me, but I did end up loving her character, and she brought a little flair to the book. I wouldn't say that the book was predictable, I did have a few thoughts about what was going to happen, and Fox had a good couple of red herrings in there to throw you off, and in the end I was surprised with the ending. Normally in these...
