'What lies between us' by John Marrs

Rating: 4.5 SO this book started off really slow for me, and I wasn't really feeling it and then bam! It just hits you with a ton of bricks, throws you off a cliff, and drowns you in the ocean. This book has more twists and turns than any rollercoaster you will ever find. And you may think I'm exaggerating, but I just really wasn't expecting that. The characters, throughout the book, just continue to grow depth, it was like you never really knew if any of what they were saying was truth or not. I don't know what else to say, I am quite speechless. All I can say is that it ended too soon for me, I would have loved to see the aftermath. One of the best psychological thrillers I've read!

'The apartment' by K.L Slater

Rating: 2.5 stars No spoilers but does reveal some things! This book has a really good premise for a story but kind of fails to reach its potential. I did like the actual plot but it was almost rushed. Like right from the offset everything about Adder House seems a little dodgy and Freya is suspicious, so there isn't really a build up of tension for us, which personally I found to be underwhelming in the end. I think if it was a little less rushed, and it really took its time to for things to get scary, it would have been super thrilling, but I just felt underwhelmed in the end. That being said, I did finish the book, which means it did something right. I am a fan of Slater's work, but not my fave.

'If I can't have you' by Charlotte Levin

Rating 3 stars Very undecided about this book. I guess I like the premise of it but the actual characters I found to be very annoying. Constance was such a frustrating narrator, obviously she is completely deluded and you see how tries to explain all of her crazy actions, but there’s also such a childish undertone that really makes her character unlikeable. Dr Stevens... what a scumbag, I hated him, which definitely made me feel sympathy for Constance but there’s definitely a feeling of...surely his character should have been a lot more charming or something in order to justify why Constance went so crazy for him in particular. I guessed the ending quite early on, and while it was interesting to see how Constance was at the end, to really drive home that she was disturbed, I didn’t really love it. Lot of negatives there, but for what its worth, the book did keep me hooked, and I still did enjoy it.
