'Everything we keep' by Kerry Lonsdale

Image
Aimee Tierney's life was months away from being perfect. She was about to marry her childhood sweetheart, and she was on track to owning her parent's restaurant. This is until her fiance goes missing, and is found dead a few days later. The happiest day of her life was replaced with the worst, the funeral of her fiancee. Many months later she is finally ready to move on. But something isn't right, maybe it's the nagging feeling in the back of her mind telling her that James isn't really dead, or the mysterious women who keeps showing up.  This is a wonderful story of grief, finding love again and uncovering deep dark secrets.  The first few chapters of the book were about Aimee grieving about her loss, Lonsdale has a clear way of poking at your heart. I liked Aimee as a character, I think she was very relatable and strong as a person. I also adored her friends, Nadia and Kristen.  I did think I knew what was going to happen in the book, but I was  surprised...

'The idea of you' by Amanda Prowse

Image
An honest, emotional journey of miscarriage and family. Nearly 40 Lucy has finally got everything she wanted, a new perfect husband, Jonah, and a baby on the way. However when Camille, Jonah's teenage daughter comes to stay, everything is put under pressure. This is definitely a book that will get your tears flowing. Although not something that I would normally read, Prowse is awesome at pouring out emotions perfectly on the page, in a way that makes you feel as if you are apart of the story.

'Midnight at the bright ideas bookstore' by Matthew Sullivan

Lydia quite happily lives her life hiding among the novels at the bookstore at which she works. But after a well loved customer, Joey, commits suicide in the history section, Lydia's life slowly starts to unravel. I admit that this book isn't the kind of book I normally read, but I was intrigued by the blurb. I have always enjoyed thriller movies, so I thought I would try a book. Although I think the idea and execution of this book was great, it just wasn't my cup of tea.I would recommend to all the thriller lovers out there.

'Once and for all' by Sarah Dessen (Sample review)

Image
Sarah Dessen is one of my absolutely favourite authors. And I was super excited to be able to read this sample from the book. Louna is the daughter of a wedding planner, although she is quite apprehensive about love since she got her own heart broken. Until she meets Ambrose, who believes Louna is the perfect girl for him. When I read the blurb for this book, I was very eager to read it. I love Dessen's writing style, and all of her previous books have left me wanting more. This sample was all I could have expected, and I can't wait to read the rest!

'Zenn diagram' by Wendy Brant

Eva is a mathematical genius, but thats not her only talent. She has the ability to know someones deepest darkest secrets just with one touch. Whether it be their hand, or their hoodie that they wear all the time, she sees patterns that tell her everything. Enter Zenn, new boy who has very dark images that worries Eva, but will that be enough to put her off him? I absolutely loved the concept of this book. I think its a great way to mix a little bit of fantasy in, but still keeping it somewhat realistic. Eva as a character was very relatable to me, right down to the nerdiness. Zenn was also very likable, and although it was slightly love-at-first-sight-ish, I think it was very cute. It wasn't that predictable, but it did end slightly abruptly. I think it could have flowed more, as it did feel slightly rushed. All in all, very cute read, that I couldn't put down!

'36 questions that changed my mind about you' by Vicki Grant

Image
This modern love story is about two people who decide to take place in a university study based on 36 questions. These 36 questions are meant to get to know the stranger you are paired up with and supposedly make you fall in love with them. I had already heard about this study before reading this book, and I did think it was quite interesting, so upon seeing this book, I was very excited to see how everything would play out. Hildy is an eccentric, loud and sweet character, Paul on the other hand is sarcastic, uninterested and can't wait to be done with the study so he can just get paid. They get paired up and chaos happens. I adored this fun read, it was witty, and it had an unusual writing style. I also liked the secondary characters, and the backstory. Although it was somewhat predictable, I did enjoy it.
