'One summer Paris' by Denise Grover Swank

Sophie Brooks and her brother, Eric, are forced to spend their summer in Paris, with their father and his new bride-to-be. Sophie wants to do anything but have to spend 8 weeks with their father who abandoned them just 6 months ago, but she has no choice. What makes matters worse is her stepsister, Camille, who tries everything in power to make this the summer of nightmares for Sophie. Enter a cute french boy, embarrassing situations, and exciting opportunities, and this will be the summer that Sophie never forgets.

I absolutely adored this book. I related to Sophie's character, and the way Swank described her feelings and emotions made it feel like I was right there with her. Camille frustrated me profusely, adding tension and an element of drama to the story. There were times in this book where my teeth were clenched in anger, or tears in my eyes for heartbreak, and even giddily grinning in love. I just could not put this book down, and even sacrificed sleep to finish it.

That being said there were moments in the book where I disliked elements of the story line, and imagined it slightly differently. But I do think the story ended very nicely.

I highly recommend as a great summer read. The illustrative yet quirky style of Swank takes you on a journey making you fall in love with Paris, and only wish you were there in reality!

'Codename Villanelle' by Like Jennings

After watching the thrilling series of Killing Eve on the BBC, I was very excited when I received a free copy through netgalley in exchange for a review. The show drew me in with the out-rightness of it all, leaving me with high hopes for the book. And I was not disappointed. The book portrays the same exciting cat-mouse-chase of the show, with added plot lines and more mystery. I absolutely love the character of Villanelle, yes she may be a psychopathological series killer, but the depth to her character and the details that Jennings reveals about her are fascinating. Eve is equally mesmerising as she seems to go through this journey of finding her killer, while also in a way discerning her own character throughout. This is quite an explicit novel, something that I wouldn't normally go for, so at times I did feel a little uncomfortable. But I still really enjoyed it!

'Reclaimed' by Sarah Guillory

PETITION FOR THIS BOOK TO BECOME A MOVIE I really enjoyed reading this book. I did think it was a little slow in the beginning, but it was definitely worth it. It's the kind of story that you think is gonna be very predictable, but the ending had me shocked. I would love to see this in a film, I can imagine some of the scenes playing out, and since this book has quite a strong visual/metaphor running through it, I know it would keep an audience in suspense. Love it! Highly recommend.
